Proactive NSF Protections use real-time and predictive balance checks to help prevent returned or “bounced” payments, reducing risk and improving cash flow.

Zinc has an NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) protection flow in place to help prevent failed transactions and avoid late fees. Here’s how it works:

  1. The Association submits a payment request.

  2. The tenant begins the payment process.

  3. Before the payment is submitted, our system performs a balance check on the tenant’s linked bank account.

  4. If there are not enough funds to cover the payment, the user will have up to three attempts to update their payment source.

  5. After three failed attempts, the account will be temporarily blocked, and an unlock fee will be required to proceed.

  6. Once the unlock fee is paid, the tenant can resume the payment flow, restarting the cycle if needed.

This flow is designed to proactively reduce failed payments and improve transaction success rates.
